"Runs in the family"

Films: Mr. Brooks (2007)

Alias: The Thumbprint Killer, Marshall

Type: Natural

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: For some people, killing comes naturally, and it can keep coming like an addiction. For poor Mr. Brooks, murdering was a way of life, but it was only a matter of time before it affected his friends and entire family.

History: Earl Brooks has a good life. A loving family, a majorly successful job, and good hobbies to pass the time. Only, those hobbies are basically him moonlighting as "the Thumbprint Killer", a serial murderer who always kills and leaves his calling card in an orderly fashion. His imaginary confidant, Marshall, only encourages this. Then he accidentally forgets to completely cover his tracks, and the one witness, a "Mr. Smith", demands that he be taught the ways of a murderer. Brooks' first warning to him is that killing is like an addiction. He'd know...

Notable Kills: See Final Fate.

Final Fate: After an initial bout of suicidal thoughts, Brooks decides to keep living to see any grandchildren, and has Smith's throat slashed by a shovel, and tosses him into the grave initially dug for him. However, he soon starts to experience nightmares about his daughter following the same dark path. And considering she had already murdered at her college, his fears might not be so unfounded.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-For once, Kevin Costner's overly stoic performance works to great effect. Brooks may be a guy trying to put his murderous tendencies behind, but he's always pulled back in. And when he is, his kills are always planned out methodically. Don't even try. You cannot outsmart this man.

Trivia: -If you can believe it, Uwe Boll was offered by Costner to direct this film. How Costner saw anything in that man is anyone's guess.

-This film was meant to be the start of a trilogy, but nothing became of it.

Not anything major, at this point...

Still better than the Allstate version of Mayhem.
Well, he's made of Rubix Cubes. Might as well take him apart, bit by bit.

A lesson to all sloppy killers. Of which there are a lot of here.

Presenting this hideous yet tortured soul.
